Last night the board of the Allentown School District denied LVenture’s application 8-0, with one abstention. Several individuals spoke for the school at this meeting. They noted that we support public education, but public education needs new tools to address the serious deficiencies in learning experienced by large segment of students in ASD. They also noted that local companies wanting to expand are unable to find graduates capable of even entering training for their jobs. Clearly, the quality of public education has become probably the biggest drag on the success of the Lehigh Valley and the country today.
This is just one part of a long process. We will continue the process until our school is up and running. Extensive education research and pioneering schools show that our approach provides answers to the education problem we are witnessing in Allentown and in the USA as a whole. If we quit now we would do the kids a disservice and show them by our actions we do not love them. We would also be denying companies in the region access to a future workforce with the skills needed to help them prosper in the 21st Century global economy. We refuse to allow that to happen.
